Description
1989 PRS Limited Edition 300 – Custom 24 – Grey Black
Super-rare vintage Paul Reed Smith – from the Limited Edition range that ran from 1989-1991. This is a an early example from the first year and these signature guitars (individually nubbered and hand signed on front/back of headstock by Paul himself) are one of the rarest and most collectible PRS to ever be created.
Produced prior to the formation of what is now called ‘Private Stock’, the Limited 300 range featured signature grade woods, a unique semi-hollow body with Cedar, Redwood, or Maple top, and a highly desirable Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. It has Abalone bird inlays, gold hardware, locking tuners, and were the first PRS to use a rare tune-o-matic bridge/stopbar tailpiece. It has a 1-piece Mahogany neck with a comfortable slim profile. Only 300 were made (this is #73) and at a guess, we’d suspect the top on this one to be Cedar by the figuring on it, if not, it will be Maple – regardless, it’s got a unique and striking top on it which needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate it.
It’s in very good condition for age with some wear and blemishes on closer inspection. Some light surface marks on the back (visible if they catch the light) and everything works as it should. We’ve tried to capture blemishes by bouncing light onto the surface to exaggerate them as they are less visible in normal lighting conditions – note it is a black gloss guitar, so apologies for the unavoidable reflections in the photos.
You get the original PRS HFS/Vintage Bass pickups which sound great, plus volume/tone controls and a rotary switch will provide everything from clean sparkly Fender (coil-tapped) sounds to full ‘turned to 11’ rock tones. It’s a super-versatile guitar and sounds great.
